Betty J. Martin

Betty J. Martin, 59, of Goreville passed away at 10:58pm, April 20, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm, Thursday, April 24, 2003 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Kenneth Blumenstock officiating. Visitation will be after 5:00pm, Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Busby Cemetery, Goreville.

Mrs. Martin was born on June 19,1943 in Johnson County, Illinois to Ruben and Marjorie (VAUGHN) Throgmorton.  She married Lowell Martin on June 16,1962 in Goreville, Illinois.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell Martin of Goreville; her parents, Ruben and Marjorie Throgmorton of Goreville; son, Joe Martin of Goreville; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Rodney Byers of Goreville; son, Sammy Martin of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Josh McCade and Sarah McCade; and two brothers, Richard Throgmorton of Goreville and Bill Throgmorton of Carterville.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Mrs. Martin was  a member of the Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. She worked at K. B. Barbeque, where she enjoyed being with her senior friends. She loved to shop and travel.
