Catherine Taylor

Catherine Taylor, daughter of Alden & Mary Elizabeth (MARTIN) Deaton, was born 25 March 1924, in Stonefort, IL. She departed this life this life Sunday evening, June 29, 2003 at 9:31pm at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL. A the time of her passing, Catherine had attained the age of 79 years, 3 months, & 4 days. Catherine was united in marriage to Lewis Taylor on Dec 24, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in New Burnside, IL. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1995.

Survivor include; a Son - Michael Taylor, & his wife Dianna, of Creal Springs, IL; a Granddaughter - Beth Kuhn, & her husband Chris, of Bardwell, KY; a Grandson - Ryan Taylor of Vienna, IL; 3 Great Grandchildren - Audra, Adrienne, & Aidan all of Bardwell, KY.

In addition to her parents & husband, Catherine was preceded in death by; a Great Grandson - Abrham Kuhn on 16 June 2003 & a Brother - Joseph Carrol Deaton.

Catherine earned her Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education from Southern Illinois University. Catherine was a retired elementary teacher. She had taught at the New Burnside Public School. She taught 5th Grade at McKinley Grade School in Harrisburg for many years.

Catherine was a member of the Eastern Star & the Johnson County Retired Teacher's Association. Catherine was a dedicated member of the Taylor United Methodist Church. She had served as church pianist and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization.

Catherine leaves her family & many friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2003, at 1pm at the Taylor United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Fager will officiate. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5pm Tuesday at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the Taylor United Methodist Church.
