Cecil W. Faulkner

Cecil W. Faulkner, age 74 years, a resident of rural Vienna, IL. Passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 4, 2004, at his home near Vienna, IL.


Cecil was born December 17, 1929 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was the son of Charles W. Faulkner and Addie (Smithson) Faulkner. He was united in marriage to Christina (Evans) on June 29, 1955 in the Foreman community (Johnson County) Illinois. She survives.


Other survivors include - a Son – Charles Barry Faulkner, and his wife Cheryl, of Sikeston, MO; 3 Grandchildren - Whitney Danielle Faulkner of Bethalto, IL, Charles Bryce Faulkner of Sikeston, MO, Katlyn Arissa Slayden of Bethalto, IL; a Brother – Charles Faulkner, and his wife Joyce, of Vienna, IL; a Daughter-in-Law – Rene Slayden, and her husband Eddie, of Bethalto, IL; 2 Sisters-in-Law - Margie Faulkner of Marion, IL & Betty “B. J.” Faulkner of Vienna, IL: Several Nieces, Nephews, other relatives & many dear friends.


In addition to his Parents, Cecil was preceded in death by: 2 Brothers – James W. Faulkner & Ernest H. “Ernie” Faulkner.


Cecil was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict.


Cecil had been employed by Staley’s Manufacturing Co. in Decatur, IL. He later was employed by Shawnee Enterprises. Cecil was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He enjoyed farming, gardening & yard work. Cecil enjoyed assisting his son Barry in golf course maintenance. He enjoyed watching sports with his grandson Bryce.


Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, September 10, 2004, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Interment, with military graveside rites, will be in the Robinson-Wise Cemetery, north of Ozark, IL. Friends may call from 5 PM – 8 PM Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
