Cora Stone

Buncombe, Ill., Nov. 19, 1916

Mrs. Cora Stone, wife of Raleigh Stone, of Buncombe, was born July 31, 1880, and died November 15, 1916.  She was therefore 36 years, 3 months and 14 days of age.  The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Peterson of this place.

Mr. and Mrs. Stone were married September 1, 1902.  Mrs. Stone leaves behind her two sons, Ralph and Ray, and two daughters, Maude and Margaret, the latter an infant of only four or five weeks.
Besides her children and husband she leaves three brothers, Bundy and Hobart  away from home at work, and Charles at home, and five sisters:  Mrs. Flavia Stone, of Buncombe; Mrs. Mable Hamilton, of Cairo; Mrs. Oma Davis, of St. Louis; Mrs. Edna Knots, of Cairo, and Ruby at home.

For the last eighteen years Mrs. Stone has been a member of the Baptist church at Mt. Zion.

Mrs. Stone has lived among us all her life and has been one of those industrious women which every neighborhood so much needs.  She was faithful to her husband and children, bringing the latter up under careful supervision while her husband was away most of the time in pursuit of his trade, that of carpenter.

We, the neighbors and friends of this bereaved family share their sorrow and at the same time extent to its members our deepest sympathy.  Most of us have had similar sorrows and we have had no consolation except that which is to be found in Him who gave his life that we might have a chance to live.  May the choicest blessings now rest upon each member of the above family, and may their lives be so adjusted and so used in this world that they may have the assurance of a reunited family in the world to come.

A Friend

We the undersigned desire to express our greatest appreciation and love for our dearest neighbors and friends for their kind remembrance and attention through the sickness and final death of our dear wife and mother Raleigh Stone and Children.
