Dean Newton

Dean Newton, age 78, a resident of Goreville, passed away Thursday evening , Dec. 12, 2002 at 11:42pm at the Marion Memorial Hospital in Marion.

She was born July 17, 1924 in Johnson County. She was the daughter of Andrew Walker and Etta (STEVENS) Walker.

Dean was united in marriage to J. B. Newton on Oct. 29, 1949 in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Denny Newton and Jimmy Newton both of Goreville; three daughters, Cheryl Newton and Carla Newton both of Goreville, Patricia DuPont of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Christopher DuPont; a brother, Lee Walker of Vienna; a sister, Almeda Parker of Paducah, Ky. and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dean was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Sue Newton; six brothers and sisters.

Dean was a homemaker. She had worked, along with her family, providing lawn care service to area residents.

Dean attended the Busby Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, near Goreville. She also attended the Cedar Grove Church, near Buncombe.

Dean enjoyed spending time with her family, especially enjoyed taking care of children.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2002, at 1pm at the Goreville United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, near Buncombe.
