Ellen D. Murphy

Ellen D. Murphy, age - 86 years, a resident of rural Simpson, IL. Passed away Wednesday morning, November 16, 2005, at 6:24 AM at her home near Simpson, IL.
Born: August 17, 1919 in Troy, IL.

 She was the daughter of Barney Porter & Mindora (Cline) Porter.

Ellen was united in marriage to William B. Murphy in 1935 in Troy, IL. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1982.

Survivors include: A Daughter – Dolores Brown of Anna, IL, A Son – William Murphy, and his wife Catherine, of Robertson, AL 8 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren,a Sister – Evelyn Harrison, and her husband John, of Edwardsville, IL, a Brother – Freeman Porter, and his wife Marge, of Troy, IL, Several Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to her Parents & Husband, Ellen was preceded in death by: 4 Sisters – Maybelle Harrigan, Nola Guincy, Edith Prott & Fern Embery 2 Brothers – Elmer Porter & Roland Porter.

Ellen retired in 1978 from the East Moline State Hospital, where she was employed as a beautician. Ellen was a graduate of a school of beauty culture in East St. Louis, IL.

Ellen was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Vienna, IL. She was also a member of the St. Paul’s Altar Society.

 Ellen enjoyed traveling & yard work. She was devoted to her family & church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday morning, November 21, 2005, at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Jose Ancheril will officiate. Interment will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 PM – 8 PM Sunday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A prayer service will be conducted at 6 PM Sunday.
