James Frelin Underwood

James Frelin Underwood, age 75, of Route 1, Goreville died Wednesday morning, Feb. 4, 1981 at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale.

He was born Sept. 18 1905 in Studivant, Mo., the son of Anthony and Minnie (REYNOLDS) Underwood. September 9, 1945 in Peoria he married Lavern Sisk, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James F. Underwood Jr. of Goreville and Anthony Wayne Underwood of Grand Chain; two daughters, Judith Wheaton of Lick Creek and Agnes Branon of Ft. Knox, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Earl Underwood of Cottage Hills; one sister, Irene Nave of Naples.

He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur and a brother, Ernest.

Mr. Underwood was a retired truck driver and a member of the Goreville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 1981 at 2: p.m. at Whitnel Funeral Chapel, Goreville with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Busby Chapel Cemetery.
