James Frelin Underwood Jr.

James Frelin Underwood Jr., son of James Frelin Underwood, Sr. & Alta LaVern (SISK) Underwood, was born July 6, 1947 in Pittsfield, IL.

He departed this life Friday afternoon, October 10, 2003, at 12:35pm at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

At the time of his passing Frelin had attained the age of 56 years, 3 months, & 4 days.

Frelin was united in marriage to Kathy (LAUDERDALE) on June 21, 2003 at Goreville, IL. She survives.

Other survivors are; His Mother- LaVern Underwood of Goreville, IL.; a Daughter- Jeanette F. Edwards, and her husband Larry, of Goreville, IL; 3 Sons- Arthur R. Underwood of Goreville, IL., Jeff A. Lauderdale of Vienna, IL., and Steven Lauderdale of Grantsburg, IL.; 2 Granddaughters- Shawna L. Edwards & Faelynn N. Edwards;  Frelin was anticipating the birth of a grandson, James Tyler, in November; 2 Sisters- Judy M. Wheaton, & her husband Harold, of Lick Creek, IL., & Agnes M. Paul, and her husband Skip, of Goreville, IL.; a Brother- Anthony W. Underwood, & his wife Arlene, of Mounds, IL. Several Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to his Father, Frelin was preceded in death by a Brother, Arthur Underwood.

Frelin was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local # 318.

Frelin was of the Baptist faith. He had recently been attending the Freedom Outreach Ministry, near Vienna, IL.

Frelin loved spending time with his Granddaughters. He was also an avid horse enthusiast.

Frelin leaves his family and many dear friends to cherish his memory.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct 13, 2003 at 1:00pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, in Vienna, IL. with Rev. Steve Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Busby Chapel Cemetery, near Goreville, Il.
