Linda Lou Dunn

Linda Lou Dunn, 68, of Hamel, died Friday, May 26, 2006 in Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 3, 1937 in Karnak, the daughter of Herschel and Lesta (Sexton) Oliver.

On Feb. 5, 1959 she married Donald D. Dunn, who passed away Feb. 19, 1996.

Linda was born in Karnak and moved to East Alton in the early 60s, and moved to Hamel in 1965. Linda worked as a beautician until her first child was born and she stayed home to raise her family. When her youngest started school she went back to work and retired as head cook at Hamel Elementary School in June 2004. She enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden, raising flowers, mowing grass, and being outside. She was also a member of Golden Year's Club.

Survivors include father, Herschel Oliver of Cypress; mother, Lesta M. Oliver, Nee Sexton of Cypress; daughter, Dawn L. and husband Kip Harmon of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Darla L. and husband Robert Lane of Highland; Grandchild, Keith Lane of Highland, Kelsey Lane of Highland, Kyle Lane of Highland, and Katie Harmon of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, Carrol and wife Sharon Oliver of Cypress, Darrel and wife Helen Oliver of Gilbert, and Jerry and wife Phyllis Oliver of Cypress, and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by a Brother-Gregory Dale Oliver.

Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel. Services will be at 11 a.m today at Cypress Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or a charity of the donor's choice.
