Mary Catherine Royster died at her home in Buncombe, Ill., Sunday.  Mrs. Royster had been in poor health for several months, having suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never recovered.
 
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Buncombe, with Rev. Hobart Peterson officiating.  Interment was made in the cemetery nearby.  Pall bearers were Willis Pearce, Frank Pearce, Lawrence Cummings, George Stone, Arlie Grant and Herbert Ragsdale.
 
The following obituary was read at the service:
Mary Catherine Pulliam was born to David M. and Martha Wickline Pulliam, October 11, 1878 at Nashville, Illinois, and departed this life Jun 13, 1948 at her home in Buncombe, Illinois, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 2 days.  She was married to James Royster, who preceded her in death two and a half years ago.  To this union was born seven children of whom five are living, namely David of Winnebago, Ill.; Mildren Jagade of Chicago; Lloyd of Rockford, Ill,; Maude Mullinax of Chicago and Charles of Buncombe, with whom she lived at the time of her death.  Martha and Blanche preceded her in death some years ago.  She also leaves eleven grandchildren, Max, Mary, Anna Lou, Afton and Shirley Royster of Winnebago; Bonnie, Patsy and Carl Mullinax of Chicago; Marie, James and Lewis of Buncombe.  She also leaves three great grandchildren, a step mother, three half sisters and one half brother, also a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
 
She professed faith in Christ 43 years ago and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death.  She and her husband moved from Union County to Buncombe, Ill., soon after their marriage and spent the remainder of their lives in that community.
 
She was a good mother, friend and neighbor to all.  She will be greatly missed, but her loved ones’ loss is her gain.
