Nadine Gurley
Nadine Gurley, daughter of Arthur Y. Cavitt & Norma (Watkins) Cavitt, was born January 23, 1918 in New Burnside, IL. She departed this life Sunday morning, June 26, 2005 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL. At the time of her passing, Nadine had attained the age of 87 years, 5 months & 3 days. Nadine was united in marriage to Melvin C. Gurley on July 19, 1936 in Vienna, IL. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1981. Survivors include: 3 Daughters – Shirley McKenzie & her husband Jim of Creal Springs, IL, Doris Lawrence & her husband Donald of Marion, IL & Judy Ragain & her husband Vernon of Marion, IL; 5 Grandchildren – Ronnie McKenzie, Bill & Nancy McKenzie, Brenda & Mike Cavitt, Debbie & Ray Collins & Brad & Jeanine Ragain; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandson; a Sister – Bonnie Penrod & her husband Lewis of Harrisburg, IL; 3 Brothers – Bob Cavitt & his wife Mary of East Peoria, IL, John Cavitt & his wife Geraldine of Vienna, IL & Jesse Cavitt & his wife Mary Lou of Manteno, IL; Several Nieces & Nephews; 2 Sisters-in-Law – Prude McKenzie of Vienna, IL & Louise Cavitt of Carterville, IL. In addition to her Parents & Husband, Nadine was preceded in death by: 3 Brothers – Gail Cavitt, Cecil Cavitt & Lester Cavitt. Nadine attended the Johnson County Public Schools. She was a homemaker. Nadine had also worked as a Presser at the Good Luck Glove Factory for approximately 13 years in Vienna, IL & Metropolis, IL. Nadine was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening. Nadine leaves her family & many dear friends to cherish her memory. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2005 at 2 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Dr. James W. Cecil will officiate. Burial will be in the Robinson-Wise Cemetery, near Ozark, IL. Friends may call Tuesday evening after 6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
