Mabel Hunsaker was born
to William Preston and Lenora Burklow in Goreville in October
1909. She passed away May 10, 2007 at the age of 97.
She attended school in Goreville and
after graduation she taught elementary school there for a time.
She married Hollie Hunsaker, who also
taught school in Goreville and they moved to Fresno, Calif., in 1940,
where he became an elementary school principal. He preceded
her in death five years ago. Mabel became a secretary and in
1951 became a bookkeeper for a pharmacy until her retirement in 1962.
The Hunsakers spent much of their time
taking care of their home in Fresno and a mountain home in Oakhurst,
Calif., which is located on the road to Yosemite. They spent
many happy days hiking trails, camping and taking pictures in
Yosemite. They belonged to the First Baptist Church in Fresno.
Mabel was preceded in death by her
sisters, Dimple Martin, Violet Richey, Eva Jesse, Bernice Humphreys and
her brother Owen Burklow.
She is survived by five nieces and
nephews, Barbara Martin Morgan, Owen and Paul Burklow, Gary Richey and
Sandra Richey Killen and their children.
She was laid to rest next to Hollie in
Belmont Gardens, Fresno.
