Marie Frost Mahan
contributed by Robert O. Grondin Marie
(Frost) Mahan, daughter of John and Martha Frost was born near Cypress,
Ill., on June 21, 1905, died March 25, 1928, aged 22 years, 7 months
and 4 days. She was preceded by her father who died Feb. 3,
1927.
She was married to James Russell Mahan, March 14, 1925. She was a faithful child doing the many things to merit the love and esteem of her parents and to be of service to them. She was loved and retained the highest esteem of all her friends and associates and everyone always had a good word for Marie. She was a find, loving, true and devoted wife, winning the highest esteem of her husband's family. She professed faith in Christ and united with the Hopewell Baptist Church in the year 1921, at the age of 15 years. She loved her church and was a faithful and earnest worker, was a cultured and beautiful singer, whose voice will so greatly be missed in the choir. Marie leaves a mother, two sisters, Gladys and May; one brother, Johnnie, a husband and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. But when the Holy Spirit came to waft her spirit home the beautiful smile on her face gave evidence that she has gone in peace therefore let's not weep but rejoice that our loss is her eternal gain. Funeral services were held March 27 at the Hopewell Baptist Church after which the body was taken to Cypress for interment, there to await her part in the first resurrection. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Ward of Anna, who delivered a most fitting address of consolation to the family and friends of the deceased. --Transcribed and contributed by Robert O.
