Ruie I. Maze

GOREVILLE --  Ruie Irene Maze, age 91, of Goreville, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, in Parkway Manor in Marion.
    Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, in Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Dorothy Cook officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Energy.  Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
    Ruie was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Goreville to Henry and Ida (Greer) Hudson.  She married her high school sweetheart Athol "Doc" Maze on June 1, 1930, in Goreville the day after they graduated from high school.  He passed away on Sept. 14, 1999.
    She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Ida and Jim Bollinger of Energy, Ruby and Philip (Pete) Tregoning of Carterville, Imogene and Roger Swift of Lutz, Fla., Barbara and Larry Harris of Carterville; brother, Ellis Hudson of Goreville; 10 grandchildren, Karen (Pat) Fisher of Bryan, Texas, Sharon Mitchell of Carterville, Liz Tregoning (Robert English) of Carterville, Philip (Cheryl) Tregoning of Athens, Ala., Mike (Jennifer) Harris of Greenville, Debbie (Troy) Meier of O'Fallon, Mo., Daria (George) Lopez of Key West, Fla., J.P. (Debbie) Swift of Costa Mesa, Calif., Alan (Tina) swift of Boca Raton, Fla.; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Flemon, and Glen Hudson; and two sisters Gladys Billingsley and Pearl Stout.
    Ruie was a homemaker.  She enjoyed working on crafts.  Her hobbies included making ceramics, quilting, crocheting, and embroidering.  Ruie and Athol enjoyed traveling and spending time in their winter home in Florida.
    She was also a devoted Christian, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family.
    Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the Carterville First Apostolic Church.
