Daniel "Uncle
Dan" Toler, 88, of Rt. 1, Goreville, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Herrin
Hospital after an illness of several months.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1886, in
Goreville to Matthew and Jane Holliday Toler.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary
Miller of Tipp City, Ohio, Pauline Newlin of Herrin, Evelyn Throgmorton
of Marion, Naoma Martin of Xenia, Ohio, and Leanna Tate of Dayton,
Ohio; two sons, Don of West Frankfort, and Larry of Boston, Mass.; one
brother, Ivy of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Cecil Luttrell of
Marion; and 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his wife 12 years ago.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday
in Van Natta-Meredith Funeral Chapel in Goreville. The Rev.
Roy Cole, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Goreville,
will officiate. Burial will be in Cana Cemetery north of
Goreville. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.
