Homer M. Toler

Homer M. Toler, son of Charles and Ollie Jane Walker Toler, was born in Johnson County May 12, 1912 and passed away Sunday, December 31, 1978 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Murphysboro at the age of 66 years.
    Mr. Toler was united in marriage to Edith Mendenhall of Union County in 1930 and to this union three daughters and nine sons were born.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Berdi Miller and by two infant sons.  Mr. Toler was a retired minister and a member of the Baptist Church.
    He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Bass of Union, Mo., and Mrs. Eloise Lipe of Vergennes; seven sons, Donald Joe of Johnston City, Gerald Dee of Jonesboro, Louis Allen of Pinckneyville, Larry Eugene of Chapin, Gary Wayne of Braidwood, Carroll of Thompsonville, and Charles David of Springfield; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister Lula Futrell of Carbondale; and many other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services were conducted Wed., Jan. 3, 1979 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Norris and Son with the Rev. William Lirely officiating.  Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
    Norris & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
