Wanda June Thomas

Wanda June Thomas, daughter of Orville P. Smelcer & Beatrice P. (Wickham) Smelcer, was born October 29, 1934
in Maysville, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday morning, February 6, 2003, at 5:25 AM at the Hillview Health
Care Center in Vienna. At the time of her passing, June had attained the age of 68 years 3 months & 8 days.
June was united in marriage to Fred William Thomas on June 26, 1964 in Vienna, IL. He survives. Other survivors
include: 2 Sons - James "Buddy" Thomas of Vienna, IL and Billy & Rachel Thomas of Grantsburg, IL;
3 Daughters - Sheryl June & Frank Cripps of Tolono, IL, Beatrice & Ronnie Rixie of Cypress, IL, & Teresa
Thomas of Vienna, IL; 13 Grandchildren - Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Mary, Jennifer, Tommny, Rebecca, Jared, Ericka,
Felicia, Nicole, Will & Tori; 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers - Bill Smelcer of Decatur, IL & Bob Smelcer
of Bunker Hill, IL; Nieces & Nephews.
In addition to her Parents, June was preceded in death by a Brother, Wayne Smelcer.
June was a homemaker. She had worked as a telephone operator in California & the St. Louis, MO area for Bell
Telephone Co. June later worked at the Good Luck Glove Factory in Vienna, IL. She then worked as a merchandiser
at the Vienna Dollar General Store. For many years, June was an Avon representative in the Vienna area. June was
a member of the Faith Harvest Assembly Church in Vienna, where she had served as the Children's Church Leader &
Church Bookkeeper. She enjoyed singing, needlecraft, & spending time with her family. June was affectionately
known as "Grandma" to many young people in the church & community.
June leaves her family & many friends to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2003 at 3 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev.
Richard Swiney will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 PM - 3
PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
