William Lawrence Cummings
William Lawrence Cummings, 70, of Route 1, Buncombe, died at 10:05 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 24, 1977 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Mr.
Cummings was born May 13, 1907, to William W. and Eva Oliver Cummings in
Harrisburg. He married Marie Kerr May 9, 1931.
Mr.
Cummings was a retired rural letter carrier. He was a member of the Mt.
Zion Baptist Church of Buncombe.
He
was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He
received the purple heart for action in Italy during World War II.
Mr.
Cummings is survived by his wife; one son, Oliver W. of Iowa City, Iowa;
one sister, Blanche Johnson of Buncombe; and two brothers, Orval of
Holiday, Fla., Everett of Holly, Mich. One brother and one sister
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mount- Whitnel
Funeral Home, Vienna. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in
Buncombe. Friends may call at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
