William Griff Patterson

William Griff Patterson, 93, of Goreville, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004, in Fountain Home in Marion.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the First Apostolic Church in Marion, with the Rev. R. G. Walls officiating. Burial will be in the Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the church. Blue Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Fountain Nursing Home or the Marion First Apostolic Church. Donations may be sent to the Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion IL.62959.

Mr. Patterson was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Slayton, Tenn., to John G. and Artie M. (ELROD) Patterson. He married Mary M. Marshall and she preceded him in death. He later married Mildred Brown and she survives.

Mr. Patterson was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Marion. He retired from Norge after several years of service. He loved to hunt and work in his yard and garden. 

Others survivors include son and daughter-in-law, William J. & Verna Patterson of Goreville; daughters and sons-in-law, Andes & Sam Taylor of Griffin, Ga., Bonnie N. Arms of Clarksville , Tenn., and Ruby A. and Thomas E. George of Marion; 13 grandchildren, William Mark Patterson, Edward Scott Patterson, Monica Dawn Carroll, Sheila Taylor, Angie Puckett, Ron Taylor, Billie Taylor, Kenneth Arms, Cynthia Wimmer, Tim Ames, Jason Arms, Michael George, & Jerome George; 28 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, T. L. Patterson of Clarksville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; his brother, Charlie Patterson; and sisters, Margaret Lynch, Lola Steeley, Minnie Lynch, and Sarah Mason.
