Rev. Mr. Finkbein has been engaged to occupy the pulpit at the German methodist Church, formerly occupied by Rev. Mr. Woehr. German preaching in the mornings and English in the evening.
Batavia Locals from the "Batavia Herald", 26 June 1893:
- State Evangelist O.W. Stewart, will preach at the Christian Church, next Lord's Day at the morning service.
- Rev. A.M. White and family will be heartily welcomed as residents of Batavia. They move to our city, this week, and occupy the M.E. Parsonage.

- Preaching at the M.E. church, Sunday morning, by Col. Sobieski, and in the evening, at six thirty, Presiding Elder, Dr. M.E. Cady will address the congregation.
Batavia Locals from the "Batavia Herald", 24 Aug 1893:
- Mr. Harry Monroe, Superintendent of the well-known and successful "Pacific Garden Mission" in Chicago, will speak at the union services in the Christian church next Sunday evening. This Mission is un-denominational and has the confidence and support of leading Chciago business men. Mrs. Col. Clarke (wife of the deceased founder) gives 365 nights a year to it. Mr. Monroe is an excellent speaker and will tell an interesting story. Converted some years since from a gambler's life, he has devoted himself to saving men from the dens and slums where formerly he dwelt.

- Chaplain White delivered a sermon to the inmates of the County farm, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, which was a rare treat to the unfortunates.
- Mr. Frank W. Burnham, from Morrison, spent the Sabbath with Chaplain A.M. White and family. He was on his way to Evanston, where he will enter College to fit himself for the ministry.

- Rev. R.E. Thomas and wife attended the Religious Congress, at the World's Fair, Wednesday and thusday of last week. Mr. Thomas delivered two able addresses on said Congress, Sunday.
Batavia Locals from the "Batavia Herald", 16 Nov 1893:
- The ladies of the Baptist Church will give a social, at the home of William P. Barker, Friday evening, Nov. 24. The leading feature will be a Circulating Library. All are invited to attend.
- Rev. R.E.Thomas, of the Christian Church and Miss Lizzie Shumway, of the Congregational Church, went to Quincy Tuesday, to attend the Christian Endeavor Convention, as delegates.
- The Epworth League, of the First M.E. Church will give a musical and literary entertainment, at the church, Wednesday eve., Nov. 22. An excellent programme is promised. Admission 25 cents. Come.
