From the Introduction from this wonderful 150
page book filled with many never before seen photos of Yates City in its prime
and wonderful stories told by descendants of it founders. You have to see it; to
see how awesome it truly is.
At the request of Diane Burgess, President of the Harvest Home Festival committee, Jerry Buckman, was asked to form a committee to publish a book to celebrate the Yates City Sesquicentennial in 2007. Previous books published in 1957, 1976, and 1982 provided detailed information about the early history of the community. while we included some of the historical background, it was not our intent to reprint the same information included in those books. Instead we included stories and photographs submitted by area residents about their families, farms, businesses and organizations, and the connection they have with Yates City. |
