CELEBRATING 50 YEARS

Emery E. Toot & Etta Bossemeyer

Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Toot of Dixon, Route 4, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, which occurs Monday, September 3, 1945, will have an open house at their home on Sunday.

Mr. Toot a native of Pennsylvania, and his wife the former Etta Bossemeyeer of Dixon have resided in the vicinity of Dixon since their marriage.

They have five living children; Mrs. George Moore and Mrs. Leon Miller both of Dixon; Mrs. Myron Bodsworth of Aurora IL; Mrs. Everett Shoffer of Serena IL and Pfc. Raymond Toot who is with the American Army of Occupation in Europe.

CELEBRATING 60 YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Emery Toot Route 4 Dixon reached their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 3, 1955 and on Sept. 4 were honored with a buffet supper for close relatives. Those attending the party held in their home were - Mr. and Mrs. Leon Miller and sons Morrison and Lyle Rt. 3 Dixon; Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and sons Stanley & Douglas, New Castle Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Wadsworth and daughter Salley, Aurora; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shaffer and son Robert, Somonauk; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Toot and son Ronald Rt. 4 Dixon; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Glessner; Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilber Cortright; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bossemeyer, Mrs. Ellis Wainscott and Mr. and Mrs. William Judge and son James of Dixon; Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Bacorn, Kings; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vest and son Robert were unable to attend.

Emery Toot and Etta Bossemeyer were wed Sept.3, 1895 in St. James Lutheran church parsonage, Dixon with Rev. Hartman officiating. They have farmed and resided on the same farm in South Dixon Township all 60 years. This home is also the birthplace of Mrs. Toot.

The Toots were the parents of seven children; Gladys (Leon Miller), Lucille (George Moore), Irene (Byron Wadsworth), Elsie (Everett Shaffer) and Raymond E. Toot. A son Roy and a daughter Alice died in childhood and youth respectively.
