Miss Anna B. Reid of Long Beach Calif. arrived Friday for a visit with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Flora Reid of Amboy and other relatives. Saturday evening Mrs. Lester Reid and daughters Mrs. Elmer Underhile and Mrs. Howard Hillison will entertain at a 6:30 supper in her honor at the home of Mrs. Hillison. Fourteen guests have been invited.

Frederick Leake Jr. assistant Lee County Superintendent of highways, recently purchased the Floyd D. Searls residence on Main Street in Amboy, formerly known as the Egan property. The Leake family is moving from their house on Blackstone Avenue to their new home and will occupy the apartment which has been vacated Coach and Mrs. Orval Spurlin and family who have moved to the Mrs. Hilda Prescott home.

The spring music festival was held at the Amboy Township high school Tuesday night under the direction of J. Edward Coe. Monica Becker, Darlene Shippert and Gilbert Goy sang vocal solos; Leon Ullensvang presented a saxophone solo; Donna Long gave a cornet solo; Lois Robbins and Darlene Shippert gave a vocal duet; and Donna Long and Mr. Coe presented a piano duet. The boys Chorus and the girls chorus sang and Gene Carroll, assisted by the mass chorus sang.

Elmer Underhile 40, an employee of the Green River Ordance plant sustained a broken leg and internal injuries in an automobile accident at 5 p.m. Monday (13 June 1949) KSB Hospital reports today were "condition fair". The accident occurred on an Ogle County highway approximately 5 miles east of the Kingdom. Mrs. Ernest Small of Woodlawn was driving the other car. She was taken to KSB hospital along with Underhile. Mrs. Small was not injured and was released.
