Body Showed Signs Of Severe Beating - An autopsy has disclosed that Henry Prestegaard, 50, of Lee county, who died mysteriously Monday, suffered severe brain hemorrhages, a skull fracture over the left ear, skull fractures at the top and base of the brain, and severe head wounds. Coroner K. B. Segner of Dixon says the report indicates that he was severely beaten. Sheriff Gilbert Finch of Dixon is investigating. It is reported Prestegaard visited several saloons at Compton Sunday in company with two friends from Lee. (Contributed by Margaret Mangers)

Mrs. Mary Kay Miller entertained Monday with a farewell shower for Mrs. Helen Beemer. Sgt. Dale Miller of Dow Field, Bangor Maine came Monday to spend a 24 day furlough with his wife and father Roy Miller. They will spend some time with her parents at LaMarr Mo. Mrs. Miller plans to spend the summer months with her husband at Bangor.

Lt. Dale Archer came Sunday to spend a short furlough with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Archer.

Mrs. Thomas McMichael left Wednesday for Austin Tx. to be near her husband stationed at Camp Swift.

Mrs. Ida Taylor was a Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Archer.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Archer and daughte spent Sunday at Roy Archer.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schweiger and family spent Monday evening at the home of Joe and family near Lee. Donald Schweiger came home with them to spend a few weeks with his grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Metcalfe of Ottawa spent the weekend with her mother Mr. Florence Mirely.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Richardson and Hugh attended the show at Mendota.

Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Chaon and sons spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bauer.

Sunday afternoon May 11, Miss Clarice Noe of East Moline and Arthur Herrier of Compton were united in marriage at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Gloth. The service was read by Rev. Ridell A. Kelsey, pastor of the Mt. Morris Methodist church. The bride was attired in a brown suit adorned with a violet orchid and the bridesmaid wore a gray suit and a gardenia corsage. The young couple will make their home in East Moline.
