James Mekeel to Betty Hamburg

Miss Betty Hamburg, daughter of the Fred Hamburgs of Harmon and James Mekeel, motor machinists mate third class in the navy, son of the Julius Mekeels of Harmon were married in a simple ceremony Friday at 2 PM in the rectory of St. Patricks Church with Rev. Thomas Walsh officiating.

Miss Hamburg was attired in a blue afternoon dress with black accessories. She wore a bridal corsage.

Miss Alice Mekeel was bridesmaid for her brothers bride and wore a yellow suit. Lewis Blackburn of Dixon, cousin of the bridegroom was best man.

Following the ceremony a bridal dinner was served at the Coffee House for the bridal party and near relatives at 7 o'clock. The couple will spend their honeymoon in Chicago.

A graduate of Sterling Community High School, Jim is on leave following 20 months of service in the South Pacific. He will report in Chicago at the end of his leave.

Betty was graduated from Dixon High School and has just completed nurses' training at KSB Hospital in Dixon. The last 6 months of her training was at Mayo General Hosptial at Galesburg.
