Franklin Baker

Obituary
Died in this city Sunday last, 22d inst., after a brief illness, Franklin
Baker, second son of Rev. W. S. and Maria Crissey(sp?), age 16 years, 4 months
and ten days.
He was born November 17th, 1840, in the city of Madison, Jefferson county,
Ind. He was a youth of more than ordinary ability, possessing a high order
of intellect which he resolved should save the best purpose, to this end
he erected high moral standard, which with praiseworthy decision he maintained;
acting most conscientiously in all matters; A chewing vico of every kind;
devoting his time to the reading and studying the Holy Scripture and other
good books, which had a tendency to enrich the mind, carefully avoiding any
book if a pernicious character. He had a strong thirst for literature and
had made considerable proficiency in science, with such a rapidity as to
attract much attention and praise. This together with his high moral bearing,
parental regard, modest and unassuming disposition was making for him many
friends and admirers.
Mrs. Bertha Banfield
Mrs. Bertha Banfield, wife of William Banfield, died at 1: 15 Tuesday afternoon
at the Ed Hill farm west of the city. Her death was caused by quick
consumption. She was 23 years old and is survived by a husband and
a baby daughter aged 4 months. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock
tomorrow morning from the family residence and the body will be taken to
Tuscola for interment.

Glenn Miller Bankson

Obit: Glenn M. Bankson, 62, retired cashier of the Blue Mound State Bank,
died at his home at 8:05 p.m. yesterday [April 29, 1955]. He had been ill
four months.
Mr. Bankson began working at the State Bank in 1915 and was appointed cashier
in 1929. He retired Jan. 1 after 40 years of service in the bank.
He was a member of the Blue Mound Methodisst Church.
A veteran of World War I, he had served as a second lieutenant at Ft. Dodge,
Ia. He was a charter member of the Gray-Randall American Legion post.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 682, the Valley of Springfield Consistory
and of the Ansar Shrine in Springfield. For many years he was a member of
the Shrine band.
Mr. Bankson was active in organizing the Blue Mound Countryside Fire Protection
District and was its first president.
He was born in Blue Mound Jan. 7, 1893, a son of Thomas L. and Della Miller
Bankson.
He married Elda Leslie in Blue Mound Jan. 16, 1918.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Robert, and three grandchildren. An aunt,
Mrs. Nellie Bankson McKaig, lived with him.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Blue Mound Methodist
Church. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ater Memorial Home in blue Mound after 3 p.m. Sunday.
The family requessts no flowers.

Logan Barnes Rites Set
Funeral services of Logan Given Barnes, 97, of 817 W. Packard St. will be
at 1 pm . Friday at the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, where friends may
call from 6 to 8 pm today. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Mr.
Barnes died at 8:35 am Wednesday in Decatur and Macon County Hospital. A
resident of Decatur since moving here from Kansas, IL in 1914, Mr. Barnes
was a retired teacher. He had taught in Edgar, Coles and Macon county schools.
He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was married to
Elizabeth Hallock Aug 23, 1893 in Coles County. Mrs. Barnes died July 28,
1947. He was born Feb. 24, 1868, in Coles County son of Milton W and Mary
Goodnight Barnes. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl E. (Mary B) Logan,
Decatur; a brother Samuel F. Barnes of Bono, Ark.; three grandchildren and
nine great grandchildren.

Strange Death
On Saturday last, August Beck, a German, who along with Joseph Harrel and
Henry Becker, resided in a small frame tenement near Sq. Joseph Kaufman's
) died very suddenly and strangely. He complained of being unwell at noon,
and his companions left him about (?) o'clock, P.M., leaving him in bed and
fastening up the house; at 6 pm they returned and found him a corpse. No
attention whatever had been paid him, and these fellows left him to die alone,
without a friend to hear his last words. Such conduct on their part in
inexcusable.
Mrs. Rachel Bond

Died in this city of Congestive Chills on the morning of the 13th inst.,
at the residence of Mr. John Stickle, Mrs. Rachel Bond, wife of Mr. Lavia
Bond and daughter of Joshua Morisson in the 48th year of her age. Mrs. Bond
was born in Mifflin county PA,. January 31st, 1857, came to this place with
her husband and children the first of this month but a week before her death,
and on Monday morning the 13th , was suddenly cut down, unexpectedly to her
family and friends.
Adeline E. Bunn

Died in this city on Thursday morning inst., Mrs. Adeline E. Bunn, consort
of A. B. Bunn Esq., aged about 23 years.
She leaves three small children to mourn her loss. The funeral services were
held at the Universalist Church, Rev. F. J. Briggs of Bloomington, conducting
the ceremonies.

Boyll, Albert L. "Al"
Decatur- Allbert L "Al Boyll, 85 of Decatur, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday
(Nov 1, 2008) in Fair Havens Christian Nursing Home. Gravesite services will
be 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Mausoleum, Centralia. Visitation will be
one hour before services. Irvin Funeral Home, Centralia, is in charge of
arrangements. Memorials: Centralia Cultural Society or donor's choice.
Al was born Nov 24, 1922 in Paxton, Ind, the son of Vernon A. and Dema Denton
Boyll. He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the VFW. He was invoved
with the management of several construction projects of nursing facilities
and motels. He retired from Montgomery Ward after 27 years. He married Lois
Van Vactor in 1942. She preceded him in death. He later married Gwen
M. Anderson in 1985. Surviving are his wife, Gwen daughters, Cheryl Cole
and husband Ron, Linda Taylor and husband Larry, all of Centralia; son, Pat
Boyll and wife Cheryl of Centalia; a step daughter, Leta Burch of Decatur;
a brother, Lloyd Boyll and wife Stella of Abilene, Texas; sister, Ann Morgan
and husband Ron of Cathedral City, Calif; numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death b y his first wife and one son,
Michael.
