Rev. Fredrick Kaiser
REMAINS EXHUMED - GILLESPIE AREA NEWS, JUNE 12, 1907
On Tuesday of this week the remains of Rev. Fredrick Kaiser, the first pastor of the Lutheran Congregation of this city, which had been buried in the rear of the Lutheran church were exhumed by J. B. Caudry, the undertaker and were removed to a resting place in the Gillespie Cemetery.
Rev. Kaiser died September 21, 1871 and was buried in the rear of the church from the reason at the time there was no cemetery in Gillespie.
A new parsonage is being erected near the church and it was thought best to have the body taken to the Gillespie Cemetery.
The casket was found to be in a fine state of preservation, as was the robe in which he was dressed and the lining of the casket. A prayer book which was lying on his breast was still intact and the gilt inscription on the cover could be easily read.
The casket in which Rev. Kaiser was buried was made by Jacob Querbach, Sr., the father of Joe and Jake Querbach of this city.
