Born December 11, 1832, in Estill county, Kentucky, came to Illinois in 1842, and settled in Fulton county; was educated at Lombard University, at Galesburg; graduated in June, 1856; was admitted to the bar in 1859; removed to Havana in 1863. In June, 1860, Mr. Pitman married Miss N. A. Haley, of Galesburg, a most amiable and estimable lady, who died at Havana in August, 1870, leaving a family of two boys. During his residence in Havana its citizens have been largely his debtor for his efficiency and valuable services as a school officer, which place he has so competently and faithfully filled. Mr. Pitman's abilities as a lawyer are above medium; he enjoys a lucrative practice, and is highly esteemed by his numerous friends. |
