KILBOURNE - Gilbert I. Bell, 78, of Kilbourne died at 11:12 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 1994, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

Born Nov. 10, 1915, in Kilbourne to Cress and Maggie Schafer Bell, he married Eileen M. Stroh on Aug. 25, 1939, in Petersburg. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary of Kilbourne and Randy of Havana; two daughters, Roxie Toland of Springfield and Mrs. Dennis (Kris) Skaggs of Havana; three sisters, Caroleen Bell of Petersburg, Leora Johannes of Havana and Clydene Gorsage of Pekin; and nine grandchildren. One grandson, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

A member of Mason County Farm Bureau, he was a farmer. He also served on the Kilbourne Fire board of trustees for many years.

He was a member of the Kilbourne School Board and later the Balyki School Board for a total of 25 years. He also was a member of Kilbourne Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hurley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Kilbourne Fire Department.

He was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Kilbourne, the son of Cress Bell and Maggie Schafer. He married Eileen M. Stroh in 1939 in Petersburg. Preceding in death were a grandson; two brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Bell was a farmer. He was a member of the Kilbourne Baptist Church, the Mason County Farm Bureau, the Kilbourne Fire Board of Trustees for many years, the Kilbourne School Board and later the Balyki School Board for 25 years.
