Paul "Casey" Ira Jones State Journal-Register, Springfield, IL, June 6, 2006, Page: 26 QUINCY - Paul Ira "Casey" Jones, 82, of Quincy, formerly of Mason City and Pekin, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Salt Creek Township, the son of Ira Haskins and Maudie May Brockman Jones. He married Joanne Root in 1945. Mr. Jones was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea. He retired as a driver for Teamsters Local 627 after 40 years and also drove for Block and Kuhl Co., Haggerty Brothers Steel, Laid-Law Wire Co. and Bosch Trucking Co. He then was a school bus driver in Pekin and, for several years, worked gate six at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Survivors: two sons, DenMarlo Ray (wife, Carol) Jones of Pekin and Ronald Dean (wife, Lynne) Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Jane Nehmelman and Virginia Hovey, both of Mason City, and Ruth (husband, Merle) Rohlfs of Hartsburg; two brothers, John (wife, Edna) and Jack (wife, Bonnie) Jones, both of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hurley Funeral Home, Mason City, the Rev. Bob Paddock officiating. Burial: Mason City Cemetery. He was born Dec. 30, 1923, the son of Ira Haskins and Maudie Mae (Brockman) Jones in Salt Creek Township. He married Joanne Root in July of 1945. Surviving are two sons, DenMarlo Ray (Carol) Jones of Pekin, Ill., and Ronald Dean (Lynne) Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Mary Jane Nehmelman and Virginia Hovey, both of Mason City, and Ruth (Merle) Rohlfs of Hartsburg, Ill.; two brothers, John (Edna) Jones and Jack (Bonnie) Jones, both of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Linda Jones of Mason City; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Herbert and Kenny. Mr. Jones was a veteran of World War II (Army) serving in the South Pacific Theater in New Guinea. He was a member of the American Legion. He retired after 40 years of driving for Teamsters Local 627. He also drove for Block and Kuhl Company, Haggerty Brothers Steel, Laidlaw Wire Company and Bosch Trucking Company. He then was a Pekin school bus driver, and also worked for several years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Gate 6, every May. Mr. Jones also enjoyed car racing, Cardinal baseball, being with family and friends, country music and traveling. Services will be at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, Thursday, June 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home-Quincy or the Alzheimer's Association. Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Paddock officiating.
