George W. Vanlandingham

George Washington Vanlandingham passed away at his home in Havana, Ill., May 7, 1945, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 15 days. He was born in Green County, Kentucky, the son of Stephen and Sarah A. Vanlandingham in 1867. He spent his early life in Kentucky and came to Illinois when he was 18. He was united in marriage with Mary Jane McGary at Athens, Ill., on February 22, 1891. To this union were born six sons and four daughters, of whom Jerry, Roy and Nina preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and the following children: Arthur of Greenview, Ill.; Harold and Earl of Easton, Ill.; Chester of Avalon, Wis.; Mrs. Mabel Hines of Astoria, Ill.; Mrs. Viola Green and Mrs. Dorothy Parks of Havana; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. He was a devoted husband and father. Memorial services were conducted at the Havana Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon, May 9, at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Gordon White. Mrs. Mabel Wiseman and Mrs. Modelle Anno sang: "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", "Whispering Hope", and "Nearer, My God, to Thee."

Casket bearers were Willard Centers, Lee Flaharty, Park Rice, Chester Smith, Newton Kennedy and Sheldon MOrris.

Flower bearers were Mrs. Maxine Barrett, Mrs. Florine Moore, Miss Mary Evans, Miss Fay Vanlandingham, Miss Violet Green, Miss Helen Dacust.
