KILBOURNE - Effie L. Vaughn, 84, of Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 1991, at the center.

Born April 27, 1907, in Oakford to Luther and Grace Lutes Lynn, she married Julius Vaughn on Nov. 18, 1928, in Petersburg. He died April 19, 1957. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, six brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.

Surviving are three daughters, Janice Goben and Marilyn Blakeley, both of Kilbourne, and Joyce Atterberry of Petersburg; two sons, Roger of Petersburg and Jack of Oakford; one sister, Eleanor Justice of Oakford; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was a clerk for the Secretary of State's office. She was a member of Oakford Methodist Church.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home, Havana. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harry Vaughn

Harry Vaughn, 81, of Mason City, died Oct. 27 [1983] at St. Clair's Manor, Lincoln.

Born Nov. 17, 1901, in Green County, Ky., to Samuel and LIlie McCubbins Vaughn, he first married Opal Buchana, who preceded him death. He married Helen Henefeld Feb. 12, 1943, in Havana, and she died April 23, 1980. Three brothers and three sisters also preceded him.

Surviving are three sons, Dale of Bradford, Dean of Delavan and Billy Joe of Peoria Heights; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Jack of Havana and Jack of Miner; and three sisters, Minnie Cunningham of Peoria, Evan Estep and Esther Estep, both of Easton.

He was a self-employed mechanic until retiring.

Services were Oct. 29 in Cain Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Paddack officiated. Burial was in Walkers Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ida Vaughn

Havana, April 1, 1987

Mason City -- Ida Mae Vaughn, 82, of 509 N. Morgan died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 1987 at home.

Born November 22, 1904, in Mason City to Houchin and Katie Flashpuller, she married Robert Vaughn on July 17, 1977 in Bloomington. He survives.

She was a member of the Mason City Women's Club, president of the HEA, and past president of the Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a course coordinator for the Rules of the Road for Mason City for the secretary of state, and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Services were Tuesday at Maas Funeral Home, the Reverend Carl Cross officiated. Burial was in Allen's Grove Cemetery at San Jose.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church or to the Mason City Nursing Home Fund.

James F. Vaughn

Mason County Democrat July 7, 1944

James F. Vaughn, eldest son of John and Mary Elizabeth Henry Vaughn, was born near Buffalo, KY, on February 1, 1877, and passed from this life at his home, four miles east of Havana, IL on July 3, 1944, at the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

He was married to Nora Whitlow September 3, 1905. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Bessie Nichols, Peoria, IL; Earl of Bath, IL; now stationed at USNT Center, Great Lakes, IL; and Mrs. Frances Koke, Peoria, IL.

Besides his bereaved wife and children he leaves nine grandchildren, and four brothers, William and Rufus, Easton, IL; Charles and Steve, both of Pekin, IL. Both parents preceded him in death. He was a member of the Baptist church in Easton, IL.

With the exception of one year, Mr. Vaughn spent his entire married life farming in Mason County, the last several years near Havana, IL.

He was a kind and loving husband and a good father and found his greatest pleasure in his home and family. His genial disposition won him many friends, who with his bereaved family, will miss him greatly.

Services in his memory were held at Himmel Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Gordon B. White. Interment was made in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Chandlerville, April 20, Julius Vaughn, 54, of Kilbourne, died at 6:20 p.m. Friday in St. John's hospital, Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Effie; four daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Blakely, Mrs. Janice Goben and Mrs. Shirley Daniel all of Kilbourne; Mrs. Joyce Atterberry, Urbana; two sons, Jack and Robert both of Kilbourne; mother , Mrs. Gertrude Vaughn, Atterberry; sister; Mrs. Leslie Beard, Springfield.

The body will be removed from the Lintner Funeral home to the residence Sunday afternoon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Kilbourne Methodist church, with Rev. William Laughlin officiating. Burial will be in Kilbourne cemetery.

Leola Vaughn

Mrs. Leola Vaughn, 68, of 506 N. Main, Mason City, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1976 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. Vaughn was a retired schoolteacher.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday in the United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Bortell officiating. Interment was in Mason City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike McCreery, Lloyd McCoy, Bob List, Fred Reeves, Terry Wunderle, and David Myers. Organist was Mrs. Steve Bergman.

Mrs. Vaughn was born at Mason City, Sept. 18, 1907, a daughter of Walter and Margaret Keith Brownfield. She married Robert Vaughn at Rockville, Ind., Dec. 24, 1937. He survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Vaughn is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edna Warren of Lansing, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and also a member of Madeline Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Wilma Vaughn

Mason City -- Wilma K. Vaughn, 80, of 525 S. Main died at 1:30p.m. Saturday, March 7, 1987 at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

Born April 17, 1906, in Mason City to Walter and Addie Blakesley Coon, she married Lyle Vaughn on January 7, 1933, in Havana. He died May 15, 1983 in Mason City.

Surviving are one son, Robert Vaughn of Mason City; one daughter, Helen Brown of Springfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Mason City United Presbyterian Church.

Graveside services were Tuesday in Mason City Cemetery, the Reverend Mark Kim officiated.

Memorials may be made to the Mason City Nursing Home Fund.
