Samuel Edward Wilcox

Samuel Edward Wilcox was born in Petersburg, Ill., May 6, 1832, and died at the home of his daughter, Jan. 11, 1920, aged 87 years, 8 months and 5 days. He was among the first white babies born at that place.

He was united in marriage to Paulina Turner in 1853. To this union was born five children: Benj., who died in 1873; Marion, who died in 1888, and Alice Melton of Adrain, Mo.; Martha Yarnell of Kilbourne and Edward of Mason City.

He moved to Mason county in 1858 and had lived here since, except for two years spent in Logan county. His wife departed this life on Sept. 17, 1870. He was married to Susan C. Close, in 1872, who passed away on Aug. 19, 1907. To this union was born five children, all of whom survive, namely: Zona Johnson, Maud Jewel, Lou Lounsberry and Laura Moslander, all of near Easton, Ill., and Dora Thomas of Oklahoma. He is survived by eight children, 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren
