Metropolis has one business enterprise that unquestionably takes rank with similar enterprises to the large cities. Not only is this true of the materials sold therein, but the interior of the same is beyond any question one of the most modern and most pleasing in appearance of any business house in this section of the state. We refer to the jewelry and piano store of A.P. Voll, located at Third and Ferry Street.
The jewelry and piano enterprise owned and conducted by Mr. Voll was established in Metropolis May 1st, 1915. Mr. Voll came to this city from Marion. He was born November 23, 1881, at Mr. Carmel. He attended the graded and high schools in that city and is a gentleman of pleasing personality. He was united in marriage a few months ago--June 8th to be explicit--to Miss Lyda M. Howell, a highly accomplished young lady of Centralia. he is a member of the Elks lodge an also the I.O.O.F. and affiliates with the Evangelical church. He is inspector for the I.C. & C.B. & Q. Roads.
But it is of his beautiful store that we desire to speak more extensively. As stated above, it is a jewelry and music store, where watches, diamonds, cut glass and all kind of jewelry, pianos and music are sold, as to the jewelry you can get the best or you can select something less expensive. The same applies to the stock of diamonds. Hamilton, Waltham, Elgin, Illinois and Rockford watches are specialized and you can also secure a cheaper watch of any make. The Lyon & Healy Pianos are handled and all kinds of sheet music. The general appearance of the store will impress you and convince you that it s a good lace to buy. Mr. Voll has had 47 years experience in his chosen line.
The entire store of A.P. Voll is a credit to Metropolis and the hustling young proprietor is one of those enthusiastic business men who has done and will continue to do much for Metropolis. He's the kind of a business man that every town needs and the Journal- Republican is pleased to mention him in this manner in this big booster edition.
