Success in any of the pursuits of life usually challenges the admiration of the world. It matters not whether in the profession of law, medicine or literature or in the theological domain, in the military or civic life, or mercantile pursuits, it is the one distinguishing and characteristic of all business transactions. In the line of school teacher, accountant and lawyer, Walter Roberts, now one of the leading attorneys of Metropolis in his sphere of labor and activity, has distinguished himself as an active, energetic, business and professional man and he has demonstrated the fact that to a young man of merit belongs the full measure of success and worldly prosperity.

Walter Roberts was born in Massac County on the 18th day of February, 1880, and has resided in the county since. He secured his education in the Metropolis city schools and also the high school in this city. He then entered the Valpariaso College at Valparaiso, Indiana. Returning to his home he began teaching school and followed this vocation for three years. He then took up bookkeeping and office work and continued in this for seven years. He at one time owned and conducted the largest fire insurance agency in Massac county, afterwards completing his law course and was admitted to bar. He is distinctively one of the most popular and energetic professional men in Metropolis and is enjoying a lucrative practice. His offices are now located in the Armstrong building. That he stands high in the estimation of his fellow citizens is evidenced by the fact that he was for two years city Auditor under Mayor C.P. Treat's administration and audited the county records in 1915 and 1916. He is married and has a most estimable family. he holds membership in the Masonic, Odd Fellows and Knight of Pythias lodges and is an enthusiastic working in the Methodist church.

May success continue to fall at his door is the wish of his large circle of friends. He is a candidate for the Republican nomination for States Attorney of Massac County.
