D.T. Slimpert, the present hustling proprietor of Slimpert's Creamery, which is located at the rear of the New Central hotel, in this city, was born in Perry county, Illinois, April 19th, 1868.

He formerly lived at Pinckneyville, Illinois, where he attended the public schools. He came to this county about 17 years ago and engaged in the farming and livestock business near the city, and followed this for a number of years.

Mr. Slimpert was married to Miss Annie McCartney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. McCartney, and four children were born to them as a result of this union--Katherine, George, Mina and Nina. About six years ago Mr. Slimpert established a Creamery business in the city and has been very successful in creating a general demand for the output of the establishment which consists of Ice Cream, Butter and Milk served and sold to the retail trade. He is a member of the K. of P. Lodge and is also a member of the Christian church. He is known as a progressive, wide awake business man and boosts for this home city and its people. Since becoming identified with the business interests of this city Mr. Slimpert has by his kindness and courtesy to all, made many warm friends in this city.
