GALESBURG - Mary L. Cochran, 87, of 1332 Imperial Ave. died at 3:48 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Knox County
Nursing Home in Knoxville.
Born April 11, 1910, in Fandon to Lewis and Elizabeth Bradley Fentem, she married Laurence Ford on Sept. 6, 1929.
She later married Roy Otis Cochran on Oct. 1, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. He died July 27, 1981. One son, Lewis Ford;
one daughter, Sandra Cochran; two grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Leon (Evelina) Cline and Mrs. Michael (Louise) Paxton, both of Galesburg, and
Mrs. Doyle (Marilyn) Riney of Abingdon; three sons, Laverne Ford of Chaparral, N. M., Allen Cochran of Lakeland,
Ga., and Alvin Cochran of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Ida Stark of Marion and Miriam Cochran of Knoxville; 23 grandchildren;
six stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and four
stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She owned and operated a grocery store in Trenton Corners near Dahinda for 23 years and later in Elmwood. She then
worked at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. Elder Adrian Dillin will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Miriam Gertrude Fentem Cochran

KNOXVILLE - Miriam Gertrude Cochran, 81, of Knoxville died at 7:42 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Knox County
Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 11, 1916, in Colchester to Lewis Edward and Elizabeth Belle Bradley Fentem, she married Clarence L. Cochran
on July 15, 1933, in Galesburg. He died Aug. 16, 1990. Three brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Beverly) Stamper of Victoria; one son, Malcolm of Brockton, Mass.; one
sister, Ida Stark of Marion; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a member of Maxey Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Knoxville and Appleton Country Club.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home. The Rev. Marty Briney will officiate. Visitation
will be one hour before services will be at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Hannah Isabelle Sullivan Stambaugh

Mrs. Hannah Isabelle Stambaugh Dies Sunday.
Mrs. Hannah Isabelle Stambaugh died Sunday in her home following an illness of two weeks duration. She was aged
82 years, 9 months, and 12 days.
Mrs. Stambaugh was born May 25, 1871, a daughter of John and Rachel Sayers Sullivan. She was united in marriage
to John Stambaugh on Feb. 22, 1903, and to them were born five children: Mrs. Inez Palmer, Astoria; Glen Stambaugh
of Adair; Mrs. Rachel Stroops of Monmouth; Freeman Stambaugh of Astoria; and George, deceased.
Also survives are four stepsons: Harvey, Cleve and John of Astoria, Charles of Marietta, one stepdaughter, Mrs.
Goldie Derry, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 24 step grandchildren, and four brothers and one sister,
namely: George Sullivan of Vermont, Fred Sullivan of Good Hope, Thomas, Lemuel and Mrs. Delora Lind, all of Astoria.
In her youth she was a member of the U. B. church of Oak Grove, but in late years she attended the Assembly of
God church in Astoria.
Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Assembly of God church, conducted by Rev. F. H. Tollivar, Macomb.
Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Donnie Lee Stambaugh

Donnie Lee Stambaugh, 60, Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Good Hope, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 12:15 a.m., at his home
in Tulsa. He was born Feb. 2, 1944, Macomb, the son of Scott and Rosine Markland Stambaugh. He married Charlene
Small, Rosie Zuspan and June Lewis. June survives.
He is also survived by four daughters; Terri Larson, Bushnell; Wendy and Brandi Stambaugh, Peoria; Robin Stambaugh,
Tulsa, Okla.; three sons; Tony, Tulsa, Okla. Donnie Jr. and Bill, Peoria; his mother; two brothers; Randy, Good
Hope, and Gary, Galesburg; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Charles. He was a truck driver all his life. He belonged
to the VFW and American Legion Association.
Cremation rights were accorded.
Burial will be at a later date at the Good Hope Cemetery.

Former Astoria, Bader Resident Dies
Charles Stambaugh, 90, of Roseville, died at 5:45 Monday morning at Monmouth hospital, where he was admitted Sunday.
He had been in failing health two years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Corman Memorial
Home in Roseville. Graveside services and burial will be at the Astoria cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Stambaugh was born July 12, 1869 in Schuyler County. He married Lovina Painter in 1893. She died in 1944. He
had resided in the Bader and Astoria communities before moving to Roseville four years ago to make his home with
his daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Thomas.
Surviving in addition to the daughters, Mrs. Dewey Workman of Browning, and Miss Mathilda Stambaugh of Rockford;
five sons, Scott Stambaugh of Good Hope, Howard Stambaugh of Jacksonville, Harley Stambaugh of Rockford, David
Stambaugh of Frederick and Michael Stambaugh of Perry; 49 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one brother, Alvin
Stambaugh of Bader and numerous nieces and nephews.
Three sons, two daughters, four grandchildren and one sister are deceased.

Macomb - Leonard "Bus" Sowers, 76, of 1025 Derry Lane, No. 5, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 1992,
at his residence.
Born May 24, 1915, in Macomb to Walter and Margaret Olive Thomas Sours, he married Margelene M. Rhodes on Oct.
19, 1945, in Macomb. She died April 27, 1986. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosanne Bullard, four
brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Rebecca) Smith, and one son, Chuck, both of Macomb; and four grandchildren.
He lived most of his life in Macomb. He was a tool and die maker for King Seeley and later Bower Roller Bearing
for several years, retiring in 1980. He served in the 8th Air Force, 91st Heavy Bombardment Group, and was a crew
member of the Memphis Belle during World War II. He was a member of Macomb Elks Lodge 1009, Macomb American Legion
Post 6 and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dodsworth-Piper- Wallen Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Newhall will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

Born Oct. 15, 1898, in Schuyler County to John and Amy Dugger Sorrells, he married Alma Irene Hale on Oct. 17,
1921, in Virginia, Ill.
She survives along with four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Roelle of Avon, Mrs. Leo (Kathleen) White of Timewell,
Mrs. Roland (Barbara) Hensley of Forrest and Mrs. Emanuel (Glenda) Reynolds of Isanti, Minn.; two brothers, Everett
of Astoria and Vilasco of Abingdon; three sisters, Mrs. George (Vivian) Millard of Abingdon, Mrs. Jesse (Lena)
Larson of Berwick and Gertrude Sorrells of Galesburg; 16 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; several great-grandchildren
and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He farmed near Ellisville, retiring in 1977.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bushnell Cemetery. Calling hours will be after 2 p.m. Thursday,
and visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at Martin- Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell.

Alma Irene Sorrells, 97, Macomb, formerly of Bushnell, died at 8:05 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, in Macomb Senior
Living Center.
She was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Grant Pass, Ore., the daughter of John and Anna Cheeseman Hale.
She married Ethan Sorrells on Oct. 17, 1921, in Virginia. He died Jan. 6, 1992.
Surviving are four daughters, Lucille Roelle and Barbara (Roland) Hensley, both of Forrest, Kathleen (Leo) White,
Rushville, and Glenda (Emanuel) Reynolds, Isanti, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a stepbrother, a sister and three nephews.
She lived in the Ellisville community and moved to Bushnell in 1977.
Funeral services were at held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home.
Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.

Macomb - Martha M. Smith, 97, of 1200 E. Grant St. died at 11:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, 1992, at Wesley Village
Health Care Center.
Born June 19, 1895, in Brown County to Warren and Mary Houser Dixon, she married Hollis W. Smith on Jan. 5, 1915,
in Rushville. He died Feb. 10, 1976.
One son, John W., two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, James L. of Macomb; one daughter, Rosalie Markham of Bushnell; four grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She lived in Schuyler County before moving to McDonough County in 1929. She was a member of First Presbyterian
Church of Macomb, Scotland Busy Bees and Social Services of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. The Rev. Cheryl Colt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Junior "Jake" E. Smith

Junior E. "Jake" Smith, 75, of 315 E. Grant St., died at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 1999, at the
Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1924, in Fulton County, the son of Elzie and Cleva Hamm Smith.
He married Nelda Miller on Dec. 9, 1944, in Taunton, Mass.
Survivors include his wife Nelda; sisters Rosa Fitzjerrells of Upland, Calif., and Elsie Clapp of Table Grove;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Marie Onion, Doris Chenoweth Smith, Frances Kendrick and Helen
Curless; and brother Homer R. Smith.
Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of World War II, following which he worked for the railroad until 1950 when he began
farming in the rural Macomb area. He retired from farming in 1986, and in 1987, he and his wife moved to Macomb.
Services were Wednesday in the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Chaplain Ron Green officiating. Burial
was in the Harris Cemetery near Table Grove.
Russell "Buck" D. Shepard

BUSHNELL - Russell D. "Buck" Shepard, 82, formerly of Bushnell, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday, April 17, 1998,
at Prairie City Nursing Center.
Born March 4, 1916, in Table Grove to Ernie and Maude Walters Shepard, he married Venita Hollenback on June 12,
1943, in Palmyra, Mo. She died June 12, 1987.
He also was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Gary of Wyaconda, Mo.; one brother, Wayne of Monmouth; and three sisters, Maxine Osborne
of Bushnell, Melba Paul of Canton and Dorothy Sinnett of Marietta.
A cement finisher, he lived and worked construction in the Bushnell area most of his life.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday
at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home.

Mary L. Sears, 67, of Bluffs, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in Springfield Memorial Hospital at Springfield.
She was born Jan. 4, 1932, at Beardstown to Oscar David and Louise Williams Miller.
She married Carroll D. Sears on Dec. 11, 1952, at Jacksonville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1995.
Survivors include son Kelly (Gwen) Sears of Macomb; daughter Rita (Michael) Williams of Bluffs; mother, Louise
Miller Landes of Jacksonville; grandchildren Sam and Megan Williams of Bluffs and Callie and Austin Sears of Macomb;
sisters Ruth Shelton and Joann Landes, both of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, brother Albert Miller and sister Alma Bergschneider.
She was a member of Oxville United Methodist Church, but attended the Bluffs United Methodist Church since her
husband's death. She was a supporter of the Bluffs Athletic Boosters.
Mrs. Sears and her husband owned and operated Sears Lumber Company in Bluffs for 43 years.
Services were Nov. 28 in Mackey Daws Funeral Home at Bluffs with the Rev. John Eisfelder officiating.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery near Bluffs.
Memorials can be made to the Meredosia Rescue Squad, Oxville United Methodist Church or Bluffs United Methodist
Church.

INDUSTRY - Daniel Carroll "Dannie" Standard, 96, formerly of Industry, died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, Dec.
29, 1993, at Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.
Born Aug. 19, 1897, in Industry to George and Sally Merrick Standard, he married Ada Wise. She died in 1978. He
later married Mary Lawson. She died Dec. 12, 1987. He also was preceded in death by one son, John Standard, four
brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Ann Gill of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A lifetime resident of McDonough County and the Industry area, he was an insurance salesman and real estate broker
before his retirement.
He was a former member of the Elks Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Donald Pratt will officiate.
Calling hours will be after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to
8:30 tonight. Burial will be in Industry Cemetery.

Dorothy M. Snyder, 85, of Macomb, died at 10:19 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Bethel Township, McDonough County, to Charles A. and Rhoda B. Stoneking. She first
married Louis L. Toland in 1936. He died in 1940. She then married Frank L. Snyder in 1946; he died Dec. 6, 1981.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in
death by three brothers, Amos, Waldo and Everett Stoneking; and three sisters, Mildred and Maxine Stoneking, and
Alleyne Blevins. Dorothy was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Macomb.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at the Church of the Nazarene in Macomb, with the Rev. Larry Abbott
officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials can be made to the Church of the Nazarene.

Hospital in Macomb.
Born Oct. 14, 1910, in Bushnell to Harley L. and Zolene Camp Scholes, he married Doris Ritchey in Bushnell. She
died March 25, 1996.
Surviving are one son, John R. of Springfield; two daughters, Kathryn Stucker of Hillsborough, Calif., and Patricia
Scholes of Louisville, Colo.; one brother, Dr. Robert T. Scholes of Rodeo, N.M.; one sister, Jassamine Schafer
of Bushnell; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was former co-owner of Harris & Scholes Stockyards. He also was a former board member and president of Bushnell
Savings & Loan.
He was a former member and president of the Bushnell Library Board. He also was a former member of Bushnell Mausoleum
Board.
He was a member of Bushnell First Presbyterian Church, where he formerly served as a deacon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Randall Paine will officiate. Calling hours will be
after 2 p.m.
Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Further visitation will
be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.

Born Aug. 27, 1910, in Astoria to George F. and Mabelle Maxwell Ritchey, she married John H. Scholes on June 11,
1935, in Bushnell. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, John R. of Springfield; two daughters, Kathryn R. Stucker of Hillsborough, Calif.,
and Pat R. Scholes of Louisville, Colo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by one sister.
A graduate of Knox Conservatory of Music, she taught music in the Bushnell school system for several years.
She was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter in Bushnell and Bushnell Woman's Club.
She also was a member of Bushnell Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. The Rev. Randall Paine will officiate. Calling

McDonough District Hospital.
Born July 1, 1911, in Industry to Cyrus and Myrtle Frue McMillan, she married Ronald "Bud" Rutledge on
April 28, 1928, in Canton. He died Jan. 6, 1986.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (and Galen) Olson of Good Hope; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters;
and one sister, Cleo McKamy of Roseville.
She formerly worked at K&D Dress Shop.
She was a 60-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home. The Rev. Martha Scaff will officiate. Friends
may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will
be in Good Hope Cemetery in Good Hope.

Macomb - Jerrold L. ''Jerry'' Rutledge, 63, of Macomb died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Macomb to Harold and Helen Andrews Rutledge.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, Patricia Luper Rutledge of Macomb; Sharon Sturek, with whom he made his
home; one brother, James (and Donna) of Park Forest; and three stepbrothers, Don Luper of Avon, Dan (and Lori)
Luper of Galesburg and Steven Luper of Davenport, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He was a Navy veteran.
He worked at Automotive Wholesale.
He attended art school.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour before.
The Rev. Ron Green will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, where military honors will be
accorded.

Ivan E. Rutledge, 68, of Springfield died Saturday at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Marietta, the son of Lester J. and Blanche Ann Fry Rutledge.
A Springfield resident for 25 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors: two sons, Carl A. and Raymond D. Rutledge, both of Springfield; five daughters, Teresa L. Phillips and
Jean Withers, both of Springfield, Debbie Koltzenburg of Macomb, Dee Anderson of Oregon and Janet Lakin of California;
11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Carol Bay of VanBuren; two half sisters, Kathy Rodriguez of Fort
Collins, Colo., and Violet Abernathy of Table Grove; several nieces and nephews; and a companion, Lorraine McKenzie
of Springfield.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, the Rev. Milton Bost officiating.

Kathryn A. Ruth, 80, Macomb, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at 1:40 p.m. at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Nov. 13, 1924 in Macomb, the daughter of Frank and Jessie Florence (Black) Ruth.
She is survived by one nephew, Dan Ruth, Townsend, Tenn.; five cousins, Beverly Stewart, Peoria, Carol Harkless,
Morton; Connie Lynn, Springfield; Jim McKamy, Milford, Mass.; and Kay Cramer, Spring Hill, Fla.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Francis.
She worked at Camp Ellis from 1943-45. She was a secretary for the USDA, ASCS in Macomb, retiring in 1973. She
was a secretary at WIU retiring in 1993.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with the Rev. William Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

PRAIRIE CITY - Ellen Gwen Runkle, 80, of Prairie City Nursing Center died there at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 1997.
Born June 13, 1916, in McDonough County to William and Alice Stoneking Porter, she married Gerald Runkle on June
13, 1940. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are three sisters, Katherine Sours of Macomb, Madelyn Foor of Farmington, Iowa, and Dorothy Evans of
Yucaipa, Calif.; and two brothers, Lloyd Porter of California and Lee Porter of Rantoul.
She was a lifelong resident of McDonough County.
There will be no services. Cremation has been accorded. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of
arrangements.

Mr. Robinson was born Aug. 11, 1895 in Ipava, the son of Charles B. and Maggie Shaver Robinson. He was married
on May 15, 1925 to Lanah Wilson, who survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ann Barry of Good Hope; one son, Charles Robinson of Summum; one grandchild;
two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Mercer of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Irma Hare of Beardstown.
Mr. Robinson was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post No. 25 of Astoria.
Rev. Fines Main officiated at the 2 p.m. services in the Shawgo Memorial Home. Burial was in the Summum Cemetery.

She was a member of First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of Macomb Fortnightly
Club and the PEO Sisterhood.

INDUSTRY - Hazel Toland, 77, of 4040 E. 1550th St., Industry, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at
Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1929, in Macomb to Walter and Nilla Swanson Price. She married Charles O. Bainter. He
passed away on April 15, 1963. She then married Cline H. Toland on March 9, 1968. He passed away on Jan. 10, 2005.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Chatteron; and one brother, Robert Price.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck (Debbie) Bainter of Rushville and Steve (Jill) Bainter of Macomb; two stepdaughters,
Becky (Joe) Lawyer of Industry and Debbie (Lyle) Menke of Grant Park; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and one sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Hillyer of Macomb.
She lived in McDonough County all of her life. She was a member of the Macomb American Legion Auxiliary and the
Macomb VFW Auxiliary.
She loved flowers and working in the garden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb
with Scott Jones officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Visitation will be from 6:30
to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Surviving are one daughter, E. Sue Sears of Adair; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
He worked for A&P in Quincy, Carthage, Bushnell and Macomb. He then owned and operated Spillers Market in East
Jackson from 1945 to 1976. He attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. He was a past president of the Macomb
Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of Macomb Elks Lodge 1009 and was a former member of Western's Leatherneck Club and Macomb Country
Club.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Macomb.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Kenneth Mortonson

A graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, she was an elementary school teacher for 38 years, retiring
from Schuyler School District 1 in 1972.
She was a member of Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association and was a member and past president of Rushville
Business & Professional Women's Club.
She also was a member and past regent of the Be-kik-a-nin-ee Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the
American Revolution, and was a 50-year member and Gold Star sister of Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary Unit 4.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.

BLANDINSVILLE - Cpl. Michael Anthony DeWitt, age 22, of Blandinsville, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps at the
time of death, died at 12:42 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, in Jacksonville, N.C.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1984, in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Roger and Shelley Reed DeWitt.
He is survived by his parents, Roger and Shelley DeWitt of Blandinsville; one brother, Tyler DeWitt of Blandinsville;
paternal grandmother, Jane DeWitt of Rushville; maternal grandparents, Lee and Carol Reed of Blandinsville; and
paternal great-grandmother, Hazel Crum of Camden, Ill. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was preceded
in death by his paternal grandfather, Gerald DeWitt, his paternal great-grandfather and his maternal great-grandparents.
Cpl. DeWitt was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School in 2003, where
he played football, baseball, basketball and also served as his class president. He had lived most all his life
in Blandinsville, except for the time he had spent in service to his country.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in
Macomb. Rev. Rob Kirkam will officiate. Burial will be in the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville. Full military
rites and honors will be conducted at the cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.
A luncheon will be held following the cemetery services at the Blandinsville Methodist Church, and all are invited.

Born March 13, 1909, in Industry to Burley E. and Ada Swift Finch, he married Hallie M. Carrico on Feb. 7, 1934.
She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Don of Roseville and Gary of Sherrard; two daughters, Mrs. James (Janice) Meredith
of Roseville and Diann Finch of Peoria; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Toland of Industry; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandchild.
Raised and educated in Industry, he farmed in the Roseville area from 1930 until retiring.
He was a member of the Warren County Sportsman's Club in Roseville and the Lomax Hunting & Fishing Club in
Lomax.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville, the Rev. Tom Mack officiating. Calling
hours will begin at noon Sunday at the memorial home. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Raritan.

COLCHESTER - Howard Fosdyck, 63, of Colchester, formerly of Bushnell, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 1994,
at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
Born Oct. 19, 1931, in Macomb to Elmer and Pauline Swanson Fosdyck, he married Charolette Ball. She preceded him
in death. He later married Marilyn J. Williamson on Oct. 4, 1958, in Moline. She survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Larry of Cazenovia, Randy of East Peoria, Rodney of Colchester, Darryl of East Still
Springs, Texas, Anthony of Bushnell and Joseph of Peoria, Ariz.; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Best of Springfield;
three brothers, Richard, Charles, and Mike, all of Colchester; and two sisters, Sandra Bollinger and Carol Knowles,
both of Colchester.
He lived and worked in Peoria, Bushnell and Colchester all of his adult life.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bushnell Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services
at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell.

Born Jan. 17, 1941, in Macomb to Elmer and Pauline Swanson Fosdyck, he married Dorothy Rickard on Aug. 28, 1959,
in Macomb. She died May 6, 1998.
He also was preceded in death by one brother.
Surviving are his stepmother, Della Fosdyck of Colchester; Marilyn Nolan, with whom he made his home; one son,
Bill (and Cindy) of Spencer, Iowa; one daughter, Vicki Fosdyck of Macomb; two brothers, Chod of Conway, Ark., and
Mike of Colchester; three stepbrothers, Jerry Porter, Roger Porter and Laverne Porter; two sisters, Sandy Bollinger
and Carol Ann Knowles, both of Colchester; and two grandchildren.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1962 to 1964.
He worked for General Telephone Co. for 20 years.
He was a member of Gold Hills Golf Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jones Mortuary in Colchester. The Rev. Jack Beard will officiate. Friends
may call after 9 a.m. Sunday at the mortuary, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be

MOUNT STERLING - Francis Henry "Whistle" Golliher, 72, of Mount Sterling died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003,
at St. John's Hospital.
He was born April 11, 1931, in Bushnell, the son of Henry Taylor and Annabel Dietrich Golliher. He married Lila
G. Hoosier in 1951 in Versailles; she died in 1996. He married Vivian Rigg Sorrells in 1997 in Mount Sterling.
Mr. Golliher worked for Western Illinois FS Feeds in Rushville for more than 15 years. He was a member of First
Baptist Church in Mount Sterling, serving as a deacon, and Versailles Lions Club.
Survivors: wife, Vivian; three daughters, Cindy (husband, Bobby) Bullen of Midwest City, Okla., Liann (husband,
Dale) Bauch of Versailles and Sheila (husband, Tim) Roach of Springfield; two sons, Steven (wife, Kathy) Golliher
of Mount Sterling and Lyle Golliher of Rushville; two stepsons, Kevin (wife, Ireana) Sorrells of Rushville and
Kent (wife, Jeni) Sorrells of Petersburg; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mercedes (husband,
Edward) Sathoff of Atterberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Remains will be cremated.
Graveside services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Cooperstown Cemetery, the Rev. Dan Edwards officiating.

Born July 1, 1912, in Fountain Green to Henry and Cora Louderman Gordon, he married Alzata Leonard on April 17,
1937, in Carthage. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Terry (Barbara) Collins of Blandinsville, Mrs. Randy (Diana) Sharpe of
LaHarpe, Mrs. Ernest (Susan) Toland of Littleton, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Shoemate of Saddle River, N.J., and Mrs.
Edward (Sharon) Williams of Cape Fair, Mo.; three brothers, Glenn of Astoria, Jim of Benton and Robert of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; two sisters, Mabel McKee of Macomb and Doris Benedict of LaGrange Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He farmed near Blandinsville and sold livestock feed for nine years.
He was a member of LaHarpe Board of Education and was a 4-H leader.
He was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. The Rev. Richard Sargent will
officiate. Calling hours will be after 1 p.m. today and visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral

INDUSTRY - Josephine S. Bozard Gorsuch, 82, of Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester, formerly of Industry,
died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 1994, at the center.
Born Oct. 5, 1912, in Canton to Benjamen Clayton and Clara Belle Rumsey Smith, she married John Bozard on Dec.
21, 1929, in Canton. He died June 28, 1957. She later married James Gorsuch on Nov. 15, 1967, in Industry. He died
April 2, 1984. One daughter, Betty JoAnn Carlock; one grandson; one great-grandson; two sisters; one brother; and
one stepson also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Herb Bozard of Industry; one daughter, Inez Holderman of Winchester; three stepdaughters,
Myrtle Terry of Moline, Letha Hickman of Macomb and Myrna Powell of Rushville; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She worked in the dietary department of the Elms Nursing Home in Bushnell. She later worked in the housekeeping
department of McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, where family will receive friends
one hour before services. The Rev. Jill Johnson-Scott will officiate. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at

death.
He served in the Navy in 1945-46 and was a member of Macomb Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921. He worked at International
Harvester in Moline.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rushville City Cemetery in Rushville. The Rev. William Hesseldenz

Born April 6, 1906, in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, to Sammuel and Lucy Sorrells Dugger, she married Ephriam
Harland on March 28, 1924. He died in 1947. One daughter, four sisters and one brother also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two grandsons, Robert Minge of Paris and Clifford Witkofsky of Rock Island; eight great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in the Industry area.
She was a charter member of Industry Assembly of God Church and was a former member of Industry United Methodist
Church.
She was a member of Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Industry Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Southerland will officiate. Friends

Born Dec. 26, 1907, near Marietta to William P. and Mary E. Smith Ackerson, she married Onzelo G. Harn Dec. 23,
1926, in Lewistown. He died Oct. 11, 1990. One grandson, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, one brother
and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Doris Baker of Rushville and Violet Lashbrook of Beardstown; one son, Donald of Oklahoma
City, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Perry Ackerson and Clarence Ackerson, both
of Bushnell, Glen Ackerson of Pekin, and William Ackerson of Marietta; and three sisters, Florence Bollinger of
Mesa, Ariz., Charlotte Krusan of Canton, and Pearl Pendl of Bellevue.
She had worked at the Cudahy Packing Company and Mickleberry Packing Company in Rushville for many years.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Cemetery, Rushville, with the Rev. Michael Cooper officiating.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 tonight at Worthington Funeral Home, Rushville.
JOHN L. ANDERSON
died yesterday at Bushnell. He would have been 89 next 25 of March. He was born in Adair County, Kentucky, 28 March
1815, came in 1831 to county with family of his father. He was an early merchant of Macomb and among the first
to build a brick store room. In 1840 with George W. EYRE, A. UPDEGRAFF and others of this locality, crossed the
plains and western mountains to the new gold fields of California. He returned to Macomb and lived until early
building up of Bushnell. He was one of the founders of Bushnell.
He was married twice. (1) Miss SMITH who died before he went to Calif. and (2) Miss Caroline SCOTT, sister of John
SCOTT, recently deceased, of this city. Wife and 2 children survive--daughter Mrs. Eva PARKS of Chicago, and Henry

Mrs. Abbie (Robinson) Vale
Died at Industry, McDonough county, Mrs. Abbie (Robinson) Vale, wife of A.
L. Vale, and daughter of William D. Robinson of Jacksonville, formerly of this city.
The sad intelligence reaches us of the death of Abbie Vale, the wife of A. L. Vale, and second daughter of W. D.
Robinson, after but a week's illness, at her home at Industry, McDonough county. She was a native of Henry, and
spent her early girlhood here. While the family lived at Maroa and since at Jacksonville, she visited her friends
here. She was married to A. L. Vale in 1878, since which time she has lived in McDonough county. The funeral took
place at Jacksonville, October 29, at the residence of her father, Rev. Horace Reed officiating. The event is a
sad one, and her early death will be deeply deplored by her friends here.

Eliza Lindsey
Mrs. Eliza G. Lindsey died at her daughter's home in this city [Fairbury, NE] Monday, January 11, of chronic heart
disease. Mrs. Lindsey was born April 13, 1835 and was the mother of Mrs. Mowry of this city. For sometime she conducted
a boarding house at the corner of F and 3rd streets. The remains were shipped Tuesday to Bushnell, Ill. for burial

Jane Taggart Kugler
Mrs. Jane Taggart Kugler was born July 9, 1842 and died July 14, 1928, age 86 years, 5 days. Jane Taggart is the
daughter of John and Jane Taggart. She was born in Cadis Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. On August 26, 1862
she was united in marriage to George Kugler in Belmont, Ohio. Soon after this event they established a home at
Georgetown, Ohio where their first child was born, William born November 29, 1863. About 1863 they left Ohio and
came to Illinois, finding a residence in Fulton County. Here seven more children came to gladden their home. Jesse
in 1865, died Sept. 3, 1918; Mary in 1867; Elizabeth in 1868; George, 1870; Annie, 1872; Ida, 1874; died in 1906;
and one little infant who tarried not over a day. About 1875 they moved to Bardolph, Ill. in McDonough County and
there four more children were born, Francis in 1876, Charles, 1879; Clarence, 1882; Henry, 1885; died Nov. 13,
1895. Of the family of twelve children five are deceased and seven are living at the following addresses, William
at Bushnell; Mrs. Mary Rose at Bushnell; Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Mrs. Annie Boozel, Memphis,
Mo.; Francis at Macomb, Ill.; Charles at Wyconda, Mo.; Clarence at Macomb, Ill. The grandchildren of this fruitful
family are named in order: William Kugler's children. Mrs. Lulu Vance, Loren Kugler, Howard and Francis Kugler;
Jessie Kugler's - Mrs. Lena McCurdy, Eva Bradford, John Kugler; Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson's - Mrs. Myrtle Berterman,

James K. Sparks, 73, died Wednesday at a local health care center. He was born May 8, 1929, in Bushnell, Ill. An
Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired sales representative in the insurance industry, a member of the
Church of Christ, and a one-year resident of Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Las Vegas; daughter,
Marinda Babeshoff of Iowa; sons, James D. of Las Vegas and Christopher of Georgia; brothers, Kenneth and Gary,
both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon
