Michael S. Newcombe

Michael S. Newcombe, 48, Chicago, died March 4, 2003, at Loyola University Medical Center.
He was born in Chicago, Sept. 28, 1954, the son of Forrest Newcombe, now of Macomb, and Carolyn Barkley (Sonny) VanOrder, Vermont. He married MaryLou Maggio in Chicago, Oct. 4, 1980. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Jeremiah, Chicago; his sister Michelle (Joseph) Rossmiller; niece and nephews Justin, Thea, and Quentin Rossmiller, Macomb; maternal aunt Ginny (Ted) Doxstader , Macomb; paternal aunts, Mary Kay (Chuck) Gragg, Cheyenne, Wyo. and Judith Stuart, Kansas City, Kan.; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Irene Barkley, originally of Ipava; maternal uncle, Dr. Robert Barkley, Macomb; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Eunice Newcombe, Wichita, Kan.; niece and nephew Margaret Ann and Zachery Rossmiller.
Interment was in Queen of Heavens Cemetery, Hillside. A memorial service for family and friends in this area is planned for later in the spring. Date and location announcement will appear in this newspaper when scheduled.
Michael was an animal lover with a special fondness for his mother's dog, Ebony, who was adopted from the animal shelter. He was also a weather spotter with deep concerns for people affected by all weather disasters.
Mabel A. Barrett Nell

Mabel A. Nell, 96, a resident of the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the nursing home.
She was born May 14, 1905, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Charles and Amy Horton Barrett. She married Robert Nell on April 14, 1926. He died April 17, 1967.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald, in 1979; four sisters, Esther Royer, Ella Sargent, Florence Curtis and Myrna Downs; two brothers, Alvin and Clarence; and one daughter-in-law, Margaret Neil.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth of Littleton, John (wife Barbara) of Neponset, and Gerald (wife Imogene) of Fairview; one daughter-in-law, Wilma Nell, of rural Macomb; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nell lived in the Doddsville and Littleton area most of her life.
She moved to Macomb in 1967. She was a member of the Doddsville Methodist Church, Doddsville Home Extension, and the Macomb Household Science Club.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Rev. Joe Tomich will officiate and burial will be at the Littleton Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

Mabel A. Nell, 96, of Macomb, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Elms Nursing Home.

Clella Rose Nelson

Clella Rose Nelson, 62, Macomb, formerly of Rushville, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, at the McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Saturday, May 2, 1942 in Rushville, the daughter of the late Lyle C. and Lucille (Blurton) Nelson.
She is survived by two brothers, Vernon Nelson and wife Carolyn, Springfield; Charles "Chuck" Nelson, Canton; one niece, Natalie Ruth Nelson and one nephew, Bryan Nathaniel Nelson, both of Springfield; one uncle, Carl (Betty) Nelson, San Rafael, Calif.; two aunts, Alice Cokenour, Alexandria, Va., and Margaret Blurton, Bailey, Mich.
She was a client at Bridgeway, Macomb.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Worthington Funeral Home, Rushville with the Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Internment was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
