Madlyn K. Rinkenberger Rathbun
McLean County, Illinois

[Gridley Sesquicentennial 1856 - 2006, Biographies of Gridley Residents 80 and 90 Plus Club]
(Transcribed by: Teri Moncelle Colglazier)

Born October 31, 1913, I was one of eleven children born to John F. and Anna Fasser Rinkenberger. I attended the Freed School, a mile and a half south of Gridley. Myself and my 10 siblings were all born and raised on the family farm, one mile south of Gridley (now the Gramm farm). I married George W. Rathbun on December 14, 1935 in Bloomington. With the exceptions of the first four years of our marriage we have lived our entire lives in the Gridley area, where we operated Gridley Farm Supply for two years. I have a daughter Marilyn Flurer of Gridley and a son Gayle, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I have five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. I enjoy sewing and quilting and I have made quilts for my children and grandchildren. I still enjoy baking for my family and I maintain and live in my own home.
