[Gridley Sesquicentennial 1856 - 2006, Biographies of Gridley Residents 80 and 90 Plus Club]
(Transcribed by: Teri Moncelle Colglazier)

I was born September 15, 1913 in SOuthern Illinois around Mt. Vernon. After the drought between 1951 - 1955, we moved to the Gridley area to farm. Leo farmed until sometime in the 1960's. We moved to Chenoa and then back to Gridley during that period. I helped the Rinkenberger Brothers open their Restaurant and also worked at Meadows Home for 10 or 11 years. I worked at several restaurants and motels and he worked at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. We were married for 57 years. We had nine children (Harold was a twin, however, his brother died at two). I have many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two twin boy great great grandchildren.

[Transcribers Note: I had the pleasure of working with Bernice at Meadows Mennonite Home during the mid-1980's. She is a very good cook and an all-around nice person.]
