Yergler -- Glenn A. "Shorty" Yergler, 84, a lifelong resident of Gridley, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2009) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Church of Gridley, with the Rev. Duane Otto officiating. Burial will follow at Gridley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and for one hour prior to the service Sunday, all at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Gridley. Memorials may be made to G.E.M.S. or Meadows Mennonite Home. He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Gridley, the son of Harry and Emma Lutticken Yergler. He married Lillian P. Dunham on Jan. 6, 1946, in Bloomington. She survives along with four daughters, Pam (Brad) Neal, Jewel Moulton and Karen Neal, all of Gridley; and Barb (Merle) Pree, Bloomington; one son, Jeff (Marsha) Yergler, Pekin; one brother, John Yergler, Kellogg, Idaho; two sisters, Gerry (Jack) Sievers, Gridley, and Eileen Roberts, Bloomington; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Scott and Bob Yergler; one granddaughter, Tracey Moulton; one great-granddaughter, Reagan Neal; and three brothers, Gene, E. Lewis "Knute" and Armand Yergler. Shorty was a member of the First United Church of Gridley. He loved farming, hunting and the Cubs.
