![]() During the early years, prior to 1906, the people of Oakford were blessed by the big lake just north of town. It was known as the "lake run" and at the trestle the depth was sixteen feet. This was the main source of entertainment for the boys of town, either to fish or swim. The old timers told of them diving off the trestle and when the above picture was discovered in the Lee family, there is little doubt of the depth. In early 1900s the lake was drained into the old river and today is under cultivation.
