Smokehouse

"The Marbold's raised various types of livestock. The most common means of preserving the meat at that time was smoking. This process allowed the family to store the meat for use at a later date"

Ice Houe

"Each winter, ice blocks were cut from the pond that was located across the road. The ice was stored and then used throughout the following year. Before the existence of refrigerators, ice was used to keep food from spoiling"

"The Summer Kitchen existed as a narrow corridor between the main house and the Smokehouse. Covered with screens, it was designed to take advantage of the breeze and allow for cooler temperatures in the summertime"
