Born: In the year 1767 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Died: He was living in 1850 in Logan County, Illinois. He died in Logan (now Menard) County, Illinois, March 9, 1859. Buried: Irish Grove Cemetery, seven miles east of Greenview, Illinois and two miles southwest of Middletown, Illinois. Married: When Peter Borders was about four years of age he moved to Loudoun County, Virginia. The names of his parents were not stated. He moved in 1803 to Clark County, Kentucky, in 1804 to Green County, Ohio, and in 1828 to Sangamon (now Menard) County, Illinois He applied for pension claim No. R. 1029, March 2, 1835, then living in Sangamon County, Illinois, and alleged that while residing in Loudoun County, Virginia, he enlisted in March or May, 1781, served three tours of two months each, as a private in Captain James Simmerell or Simrel's Company. Colonel Wood's Virginia regiment, and was stationed at Winchester Barracks to guard Prisoners. His claim for pension was not allowed, as proof of service as required by the pension law was not furnished. There is no data in his claim concerning the family of Peter Borders. His grave was marked by Pierre Menard Chapter DAR, Petersburg, Illinois in the year 1935-36, September 15th. Mrs. William Small, Regent.
