MISS ELLA MAY CLEMENS.
Daughter of George Clemens, died at her home in this city, Monday evening, Dec. 14, 1885, of consumption, aged 17 years, 8 months and 14 days, after a lingering illness.

Miss Ella was an unusually kind and generous young lady, and we do not believe she had an enemy. Although not a member of any particular church, she was devout and possessed a spirit of true Christian instinct, and during her life always followed the teachings that were instilled into her by her Christian mother, who passed from this life some years ago. As is the case with persons who possess that terrible disease, Miss Ella's sufferings were almost unbearable, but she bore them with patience, and did not seem to realize that her death was so near at hand until the Death Messenger came to call her home, and took from that motherless household the one bright, pure and shining light that a father, brothers and friends had learned to love so well.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 16, Rev. T. C. McFarland delivering the funeral discourse. After the services at the church the remains were taken to Rose Hill Cemetery for interment, and were followed there by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.

As flowers half open fade and die
While in their early bloom,
So Ella May at Jesus' call
Has found an early tomb.

But then, we trust, on that bright shore,
Where death so never come,
Her sprit washed in Jesus' blood
Has found a peaceful home.
