Martha J. Crosby

Bloomington Pantagraph, Oct. 29 & 30, 1900

The death of Mrs. Martha J. Crosby occurred yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Lenning, at the Ames house. Mrs. Crosby had been ill for several months with a hard cancer of the bowels, and her death was not unexpected.

The deceased was 78 years old, and since the age of 12 had resided in Petersburg and vicinity until last July, when she came here to make her home with her daughter. Besides Mrs. W. F. Lenning, she leaves in this city one granddaughter, Mrs. John Harwood. Another daughter, Mrs. Hanna Flaherty, of Missouri, and two sons, Stephen Crosby of Wisconsin, and B.V. Crosby, of St. Louis, survive.

The remains will be taken Tuesday morning to Petersburg for interment, and the funeral services will be held in the Baptist church there upon the arrival of the train.
