J. R. CUMMINGS DIES AT HOSPITAL
AS RESULT OF INJURY
Mr. Cummings sustained broken hip in a fall at his home here when he fell. He was immediately taken to the hospital where death resulted.
Deceased was born in Woodside township, July 29, 1854. Here he received his education and grew to manhood, following the vocation of a farmer. He moved to this community from near Woodside about 31 years ago and located on the Fred Rankin farm, from where he moved to Athens and retired about seventeen years ago.
On May 5, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Ada Snape.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred Shaw of Maroa; three sons, Calvin of Athens; Clifford C. of Defiance, Ohio, Hartley of Toledo, Ohio, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the local Methodist Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m. this Thursday afternoon, former pastor, C. A. Ward officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Auburn.
