Petersburg Observer, February 7, 1885

In Petersburg, Saturday night, Feb. 1st Mary (Wilcox) Curry after an illness of a month or six weeks.

Deceased was born in Greene county, Ky., Jan. 29, 1820, emigrated from Kentucky to Illinois in September, 1827, and entered land five miles east of this place, where she resided with her husband until his death in 1976. She had born to her 12 children, 5 sons and 7 daughters. They all lived to be grown, and married during her life time. She leaves eleven children, forty five grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren to mourn her death. Among her sons were Rev. H. P. Curry, of this county, and Rev. John A. Curry, of Beardstown, Ill. Postmaster Curry, of this place, was among the grand children. She has been a convert and devoted Christian for forty five years, and was a member of the Baptist church at the time of her death. Funeral services preached by Rev. R. D. Miller, and the remains were interred in Rose Hill Cemetery.
