Effie Dugan, 90, fomerly of Dawson, North Dakota, died Wednesday, March 9, 1988 in a Bismarck nursing home.
Effie was born September 15, 1897 at Athens Illinois, the daughter of Schuyler and Olive Thornton. Effie moved to Edgely, North Dakota as a young girl and later homesteaded south of Dawson, North Dakota where she attended school. She married Harry Dugan on February 24, 1917 in Steele, North Dakota. They farmed south of Dawson until 1940 when they moved to Steele. Mr. Dugan died in 1940. Effie moved to Bismarck in 1943 until 1965. She lived with different members of the family until entering the Golden Manor, Steele, North Dakota, in 1983.
Effie is survived by five daughters, Hazel Peterson, Edgeley, North Dakota, Eunice Dworshak, Bismarck, Opal Shockley, Bemidji,Minnesota, Fern Weidner, Great Falls, Montana, and Gladys Boschee, San Diego, California; three sons, Ralph, Mandan, North Dakota, George, Scobey, Montana, and Clarence, Grass Valley, California; 50 grandchildren; 112 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele, North Dakota.
