Death of Mrs. Barbara Knox
Mrs. Barbara Knox aged 52 years died of Brights disease at her hone in East Athens Friday morning at 4:30 o'clock. Barbara Emery was born in England Oct 25th, 1853 and married John Knox in 1873. She came to this country in 1888 accompanied by her husband, They located first in Streater (Streator)and then in Virden and for ten years she has been a resident of Athens, Mr. Knox died January 1st, 1895. A neighbor of hers who has been neighbor ever since her coming to this country first in Streator and later in the home where she died, bears cheerfully the good testimony of the departed "She was a good woman, a kind neighbor and a devoted mother."
The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, a large crowd was in attendance. The services was under the auspices of U.M.W.A. Rev. C.F. McKowan officiating. Burial in Hall's cemetery.
The deceased is mourned by five children, Mrs. Charles Libby, Arthur Robert, Maggie and Edith Knox who reside in Athens; beside a host of friends and relatives.Transcribed by:Rajean Gallagher
